Does FocusMDM Mobile App run on a VPN?

  • Yes - the FocusMDM Mobile App uses a VPN as the way to accurately track data and time usage.

  • The Focus VPN can be turned off. You can disable FocusMDM's VPN using a Rule 

  • There are implications of turning off the Focus VPN as the solution will then report less accurate information on data usage in the FocusMDM Dashboard

What Android Go devices are currently supported?

  • Android Go Version 8.1 supports more Focus features as many devices from Android Go 10+ have disabled the "Draw over other Apps" permission/feature

  • The following screen or something similar will show so this permission must be skipped at setup


  • Version 1.7.59 now supports Android Go devices to enroll and shows the Admin user that Device/App blocking is partially supported.

  • The "Draw over other Apps" permission/feature is used to show a friendly message to device users that the App is blocked. While usage is blocked, it can be confusing to users when the App is not working/starting.

  • NOTE: While the intention is to support Android Go, its expected that some low cost device models will have features that will not work due to the underlying operating system. Dimagi will continue to work with clients on specific device models if needed

What languages are supported by FocusMDM?

  • English is supported on the FocusMDM Web and Mobile apps

  • French is available on the FocusMDM Mobile app, but is not frequently updated
